27th Amendment: Raising Pay


What They Say: No law, varying the compensation for the services of the Senators and Representatives, shall take effect, until an election of Representatives shall have intervened.


What We Say: Congress cannot raise their pay and if they vote for a raise, it will not take place until the next session. 


The 27th amendment was one of 12 amendments that were proposed to the US Constitution.. This amendment was ratified in 1992.
